On Sunday, March 30, 2008, approximately 200 Finger Lakes–area alumni, parents, and Friends of Ithaca College gathered on campus to celebrate the success of the Campaign for Ithaca College: Making a World of Difference in conjunction with the annual Friends Pops Concert. After an opening cocktail reception, Friends of Ithaca College president Loren Colbert ’78 welcomed guests and reported that members of the Friends have contributed over $1.2 million to the campaign. Shelley Semmler, Ithaca’s vice president for institutional advancement, thanked the Friends Advisory Committee volunteers for all their hard work and highlighted the accomplishments of Peggy R. Williams during her 11 years of service as IC president. President Williams also shared a multimedia presentation demonstrating the positive impact the campaign will have on IC students
The program continued with an outstanding performance by the Ithaca College Symphonic Band, led by conductor Elizabeth Peterson. The Americana and baseball theme brought listeners some wonderful pieces, including a special performance of “Casey at the Bat” with guest narrator Art Ostrander, dean of the School of Music.
