With a month left to go in the Campaign for Ithaca College: Making a World of Difference, the College has met its $8 million goal for the Ithaca Fund, ensuring that students continue receiving the educational enhancements -- internships, research opportunities, visits from nationally recognized scholars and artists, and academic technology -- that make an IC education second to none.

"This is an extraordinary accomplishment," said vice president for institutional advancement Shelley Semmler. "When we began the campaign in 2001, we wanted to make sure we weren’t benefiting tomorrow’s students at the expense of today’s. So along with new buildings, new scholarships, and new academic programs, we included ongoing support of the Ithaca Fund as one of our campaign goals. We couldn’t be more pleased that the alumni, parents, and friends of Ithaca College understood the need for Ithaca Fund support and made annual gifts on top of their campaign contributions."

As the College’s annual fund-raising program, support of the Ithaca Fund is always extremely important, Semmler said. "Every gift to the Ithaca Fund is another chance for a student to have a life-changing experience. So we do what we can each year to make sure our students have every opportunity to learn."

Fund-raising for the Ithaca Fund won’t end now that the goal has been met, she added. Each additional gift to the Ithaca Fund between now and February 29, 2008 will count toward the overall campaign goal of $115 million, and gifts made after the end of the campaign will contribute to the ongoing effort to increase annual support.
