Scholarships: A Most Versatile Gift

The gift of a scholarship is a very special gesture that strengthens our community and our institution. A scholarship can transform the life of a student, and positively impact the fiscal health of the College. In addition, Ithaca’s scholarship endowment is carefully managed to produce income today, while the balance remains invested to repeat the same magic year after year.

That’s a pretty special gift.

The need for scholarship assistance has never been greater. The cost of a college education continues to climb, even as many of the external sources of financial aid are not keeping pace. The College has tried to moderate the shortfall by borrowing money from operating expenses to provide extra financial aid. However it’s not nearly enough, not to mention the extra burden this places on the College’s limited resources.

The truth is, the most effective way to address these challenges is to increase Ithaca College’s endowment. To that end, we prepared this website to help you learn more about the many benefits of this most versatile gift. I invite you to look through these pages, and encourage you to consider making a magical gift of your own.

“When I learned that over 80 percent of today’s students need financial help, that was something I wanted to address.”- Diane Frankle Storck ’70
