Four health education majors are sharing their expertise with the local community and making names for themselves on the regional and state levels.
Jennifer Parr '96 is working with Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES in developing a "Teen Summit" for high school students. She also has received the Outstanding Undergraduate Health Education Student Award, presented annually by the New York State Federation of Professional Health Educators. She joins previous recipients Lucy Robinson '93 and Heather Zarnoch '94.
Kelly Hucul '96 is serving as an educational assistant for Tompkins County AIDS Work. As part of the fifth annual Make a Difference Day, she coordinated a promotional activity that involved more than 90 people forming a human red ribbon on the football field at Ithaca High School. She is also assisting in the coordination of Fays Drug Quiz, a program that promotes substance-abuse awareness to elementary and intermediate school students throughout the state.
Jessica Lawrence '97 is serving on the board of directors of the New York State Federation of Professional Health Educators. She represents students in undergraduate health education programs throughout the state.
