Ithaca recorded its best season since the 1972 club turned in a 9-0 showing. The low-netters won their first two outings, dropped a 5-4 contest to Rochester, and then notched victories in their last seven dual matches. First-year head coach Tim Faulkner, who has guided the men's tennis program for the past 24 seasons, led the Bombers to a tie for 6th place at the NYSWCAA championship.
Ithaca won its share of heart stoppers, claiming three 5-4 decisions, including a season-opening triumph at St. Lawrence. It was only the fourth time in 23 meetings with the Saints that the Bombers emerged victorious.
Senior Harriet Cohen registered a 20-7 overall record this fall to lead the troops. She was 10-4 in singles play. Junior Cortney Trull was also a 20-match winner; her 20-8 overall mark included a 9-3 doubles record. Senior Farryl Cohen was 19-7 overall, with a 10-2 mark in doubles action.
Harriet Cohen ended the fall ranked 4th in all-time overall wins at Ithaca (72). She is 4th in career singles triumphs (35) and 5th in doubles victories (37). Senior Tracy Saldinger is 6th in all-time singles and overall wins (32 and 53, respectively). With 51 overall triumphs senior Heather Umen moved into 7th place on the career chart; she jumped into a tie for 8th in doubles victories (30).
