The other day while accompanying a school chorus I was admiring the arrangement of the piece of music we were doing. When I looked at the names of the arrangers, I was so pleased to discover they were none other than our very own [music professors] Dave Riley and Dana Wilson! It brought quite a smile to my face that day!

I was deeply saddened to learn that my good friend Clifford DuBois, class of '36, died one year ago in March.
Clifford saw more baseball ability in me than I had realized myself, having played in several freshman ball games, and especially against Cornell frosh, in which I went 3 for 4.
Cliff suggested that I try out for the varsity even though they had already played several games. I did accept Cliff's suggestion and I worked out with the varsity. Because of the College's financial difficulty in 1935, the balance of the scheduled College games were canceled. However, one game was played against a ball team sponsored by the local salt company.
Bucky [Freeman] -- who else? -- put me in as a pinch hitter and I proceeded to hit a three-bagger. I was forced to slide into third base and, in so doing, I hit a mud puddle that lay wide and deep between me and the base. The jacket I was wearing became completely covered with mud. Unfortunately, it was not my own jacket.
Because it was still pretty cool in April, a transfer student from Sargent or Rider College offered to lend me his own jacket. His name was [Irving] Schlossberg ['35]. Naturally, when he saw his beautiful jacket, he was flabbergasted. Perhaps, at this late date, I could offer my apologies to him.
That seems to have been the end of my College baseball, sadly. You see, I was a class of '38 dropout -- for financial reasons. I still think very fondly of my time at Ithaca.

I read with sadness of the retirement of Coach Doris Kostrinsky in the winter 1996 edition of the ICQ. I was a four-year member of "Coachie's" field hockey team in 1978ñ81, and she has earned a spot in my heart for creating lifetime memories of my Ithaca College days. I can still remember the true grit, determination, and belief in us as top-notch athletes she demonstrated every day in practice, games, and postseason competition.
To say she was a role model is an understatement. She is and will always continue to be a legend in my eyes. Although I have not corresponded with many of my teammates for years, I am 100 percent certain that they share my sentiments. It is because of her belief in us and her winning coaching style that we continued to win time and time again. We wish her best of luck in her future and express volumes of thanks for giving us all great lessons in the past.
