Faculty in the Community

Gossa Tsegaye ’76 of the television-radio department taught a six-week course in television production at Boynton Middle School this past fall. The course was part of the after-school enrichment program and was so successful that plans are to continue the program.

Students in corporate communication professor Gordon Rowland’s Designing Learning Systems course this fall learned a great deal and had much fun preparing their pocket science investigations for the Sciencenter of Ithaca. "It was a joy to watch the students strive to generate and develop ideas for teaching concepts to Sciencenter visitors," said Rowland, who feels that the collaboration between the Sciencenter and Ithaca College provided a rich, authentic context for his students.

At its annual meeting in December, the National Advertising Review Board honored its members who had served on the board over the past 25 years. Associate professor Howard Cogan was honored for his prior two terms as a board member. Begun in 1971, the NARB is the self-regulating body for the advertising industry.
