Some of Ithaca’s best times came at the ECAC indoor championship in March. The Bombers placed ninth, thanks in part to school-record times by senior Mike Lewek in the 800 meters (1:55.06) and freshman Mike Pederson in the 400 meters (50.28). They finished sixth and eighth, respectively, and teamed with freshman Jason Kucma and junior Chris Waldron for a school-standard 3:20.86 while taking first.
Ithaca nabbed a second in the NYSCTC meet in February, the program’s top effort since 1987. Pederson won the 400-meter dash and junior Bryan Emerson earned the state title in the 1,000 meters (2:35.7). The distance medley relay of Waldron, sophomore Andrew Austin, Lewek, and senior Michael Pawlowski also earned a state crown.
