Ithaca’s indoor season was highlighted by a runner-up performance at the New York State College Track Championship meet in February. It was the club’s top finish since a second in 1992. Senior Christine Dilcer earned the state crown in the 200 meters (27.43) and was second in the 400 meters (1:00.98). The 1,600-meter relay unit of sophomore Lisa Good, freshman Courtney Smith, junior Barb Weigner, and Dilcer also won (4:15.88).
A week later, at the ECAC meet, a 1,600-meter relay configuration of Good, sophomore Jill Prevet, senior Melanie Della Rocco, and Dilcer placed third in an NCAA championship qualifying time of 4:00.39. The foursome did not better that time at nationals and did not advance beyond the preliminary race.
