
Women's Lacrosse (12-6)Ithaca posted a double-digit win total for the second straight season, placed second in the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, and earned its first NCAA play-off berth since 1993. Four of Ithaca's six losses were split evenly between eventual national semifinalists College of New Jersey and William Smith. Second-year coach Piep van Heuven was named north central region coach of the year in Division III following the successful campaign. A trio of all-Americans-senior Amanda Mabee and juniors Leslie Greene and Heather Stafford-helped the Bombers post their highest win total since the 1989 club was 12-7. Mabee tallied 45 goals and 20 assists in 18 starts. She completed her career with 101 net finders, the fifth-best sum in school history. Her 140 career point total ranks fourth. Mabee was a second-team all-American on both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and United States Women's Lacrosse Association squads. She represented the Bombers in the Division III north/south all-star game. Stafford, who was a second-squad IWLCA and honorable-mention USWLA selection, contributed 40 goals and 11 assists during the spring. Greene, a defensive standout, received third-team IWLCA laurels. |

Men's Lacrosse (9-4)Coach Jeff Long's club, which was ranked as high as eighth in the Division III poll during the season, ended up with the program's best record since 1992. A streak of nine victories in 10 outings put the Bombers in the heart of the play-off hunt, but a loss to eventual NCAA participant Gettysburg in the final regular-season contest dashed those hopes. Junior attack Joey Hope picked up second-team United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association all-American recognition and was a first-team Super Six League all-star. He paced the team with 48 goals and 25 assists. Hope surpassed the 100-career goal plateau during the season and now ranks seventh in career tallies (102) and ninth in points (152). Sophomore transfer E. J. MacCaull, a second-team Super Six selection, posted the third-best single-season assist total at Ithaca with 40 goal aiders. He added 27 net finders. Sophomore Jason Pacioni, with 32 goals, was another consistent scorer. Senior Dylan Pensabene won close to 60 percent of his faceoffs and had a squad-leading 128 ground balls. Junior goalie Matt Troy tallied 184 saves in 13 starts. |
