Stairway to Album

JasonGonzalez '93 and his band "just Jay" have a CD, released in February, titled Through My Eyes. How, you might wonder, did this business major embark on a singing career?

During his second year at IC his roommate, Bill Stevens '94, heard Gonzalez sing and uttered a career-altering statement: "Jay, what the hell are you doing with your nose buried in a book? You should be out singing!" Gonzalez listened. He built an audience while performing "stairwell jams" in the East Tower. The noninsulated concrete dorm stairwells created great natural acoustics — and students would gather to join in, listen, and make requests. Gonzalez just added keyboards, some Latin percussion, and rock drums to create what his band's publicist calls the "unique sound that is 'just Jay.'"

The album is being marketed through JAG Enterprises.
