Big-Time TV Alumni Come Back to Teach in Park

Arthur Moore '66, director of programming at WABC-TV and executive in charge of production for Live with Regis and Kelly, and Judith Girard '68, senior vice president and general manager of the cable Food Network, were this year's Skip Landen professionals in residence. The two Park School alumni gave master classes on launching a TV show, programming in broadcast and cable, and finding and moving up in a job. They also critiqued a student broadcast on ICTV and presented a free public talk on the differences between cable and broadcast television.

Arthur MooreMoore began his career at a TV station in central Pennsylvania, directing regional commercials for national chain stores. He moved to Buffalo, where he produced and directed a morning variety program, children's programs, and news shows, as well as telecasts of Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills games. Moore then joined WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, where he helped develop and was executive producer and director for the popular morning program AM/Philadelphia. In 1978 he was promoted to director of station promotion and advertising. He moved to his current job in 1989, and is also executive producer of three syndicated programs by film critic Joel Siegel. The Park School honored Moore in 1992 with its Ceracche Distinguished Achievement Award.

Judith GirardGirard started at Philadelphia's WPVI-TV and then held management positions with several stations before joining WNBC-TV in New York in 1987 as director of operations and programming. In 1989 she became director of broadcasting and in 1991 vice president of broadcasting. Girard switched to cable when she became senior vice president of programming and production at the Lifetime network, then took a position as senior VP of programming in charge of video and interactive services for Americast. Now at the Food Network, she is responsible for programming, marketing, and promotions and for content on the network's website. Girard is also an associate professor at New York University, where she has taught courses in television production and sales. She received the Ceracche award in 1989.
