The
Ithaca College Environmental Society and the IC Habitat for Humanity chapter,
in a cooperative effort spearheaded by Eric Lieb ’04, sponsored an Earth
Day visit to campus by Ralph Nader, longtime consumer advocate and the
Green Party 2000 U.S. presidential candidate. Ben Light Gymnasium was
packed with students, faculty, staff, and community guests for Nader’s
talk, in which he discussed the relationship among corporations, government,
and consumers, as well as ways in which consumers can fight for cleaner
air and water, safer food, and more control over policies made on their
behalf.
