Tenure, Promotion,
and Emeritus Status Granted
At its February meeting the Ithaca
College Board of Trustees approved a number of faculty status changes:
Emeritus
John "Kesh" Keshishoglou (pictured with Walter Cronkite), who
retired in 2000, was named professor emeritus of television-radio.
He was the founding
dean of the communications school, serving in that role from 1971
to 1979. He had joined the College in 1965 as chair of the Department
of Television-Radio and director of the instructional resources
center. An expert on international and intercultural communications,
he
developed a student exchange program between the Roy H. Park School of Communications
and Nanyang
Technological University in Singapore, where he currently serves as a visiting
professor. A three-time recipient of Fulbright
research awards, Keshishoglou has served as a consultant for the United States
Information Agency,
United States Agency for International Development, and United
Nations.
He has written three books; published more than 100 articles in journals, magazines,
and newspapers; and produced and directed numerous educational films and documentaries.
Tenure
Gina Marchetti (cinema and photography) and John Wolohan (sport
management and media) were granted tenure.
Promotion
Jodi Cohen (speech communication), Bruce Henderson (speech
communication), Elia Kacapyr (economics), Betsy Keller (exercise
and sport sciences), Michael Malpass (anthropology), Patrice
Pastore (performance studies), and Gladys Varona-Lacey (modern
languages and literatures) were promoted to professor. Laurie Bitting (exercise
and sport sciences), Christine Cecconi (speech-language pathology and
audiology), and Frank Micale (exercise and sport sciences) were promoted
to clinical associate professor. Susan Durnford (speech-language pathology
and audiology) was promoted to clinical assistant professor.
Tenure and Promotion
Jean Hardwick (biology), Naeem Inayatullah (politics), Deborah
Martin (performance studies), and Greg Shelley (exercise
and sport sciences) were granted tenure and promoted to associate
professor.
