The annual alumni crew reunion had a special boost this year: seven of the nine members of the women's varsity 8 team that took the Dad Vail Regatta championship in 1976 --- the first year the national contest was open to women --- showed up. The team had been coached by Jerry Dietz '75. "Unfortunately, Jerry [who lives in Ithaca] was out of town that weekend," says current women's crew coach Dan Robinson '79, M.S. '92. "But the women made sure he'd know they were here --- they toilet-papered his house." |
