Historic Designation for Ithaca
Downtown Ithaca has been listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The designation represents an entire district of commercial buildings located on and near the Ithaca Commons -- some 70 mostly brick and stone buildings, in a variety of architectural styles such as Greek, Italianate, and Renaissance revival, that were constructed between 1818 and 1949. The process of creating the Downtown Ithaca National Register District was a collaboration of the Ithaca Downtown Partnership, Historic Ithaca, and the city's planning department. Just another reason to come visit our fair city!
