African-Jewish Dialogue
![]() |
The Afro-Semitic Experience brought its energetic musical style to Ithaca for a three-day residency and public concert this fall. Led by Jewish-American jazz bassist and music professor David Chevan and African American jazz pianist Warren Byrd, the sextet of African-American and Jewish American musicians merge their cultures and deliver a message about racism, anti-Semitism, and black-Jewish relations. The group's free public concert included a piece with two Ithaca College student musical groups, the IC Klezmorim (see ICQ 2005/3, "Alive and Kicking") and the Amani Gospel Choir.
