Movies and Concerts

Head over to Textor Hall to catch a flick on the weekend. The Student Activities Board shows recently released movies throughout the semester, like The Departed and The Pursuit of Happyness. It's just steps from your dorm, and with these prices, you can afford to be a movie buff (popcorn optional). The campus also hosts the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival and the Out of the Closet and onto the Screen film series, as well as numerous other screenings held by student clubs and organizations.

For your listening pleasure, the School of Music presents over 300 concerts each year. Come and hear classmates, professors, and visiting artists perform individually or in ensembles. For popular music, check out the acts sponsored by the Bureau of Concerts: great artists like the Roots, Vanessa Carlton, Less Than Jake, O.A.R., and Something Corporate have played on campus recently.

Art and Theater

The Handwerker Gallery showcases student and faculty art as well as works by notable contemporary artists. Recent exhibitions have ranged from Jay Waronker's watercolors of India's synagogues to the postmodern light boxes of Shinji Ogawa.

The play's the thing at Ithaca: whether you're backstage, center stage, or in the audience, you'll find a show to suit your tastes and talents. Theater arts majors act in, light, manage, promote, and design Ithaca College Theatre productions. Not a major, but just can't resist the smell of the greasepaint? The student-run No Bucks and Triple Threat Theatres will give you a chance at virtually any role.

Diversity and Community

Throughout the year the Office of Academic Enrichment Services organizes important events that bring the Ithaca community together. Think about attending the annual Professionals Symposium or one of our guest lectures, events that help Ithacans broaden their perspectives. If you're interested in cultural diversity, clubs such as the African-Latino Society, the Asian Culture Club, and the International Club will welcome you.
