Head over to Textor Hall to catch a flick on the weekend. The Student Activities Board shows recently released movies throughout the semester, like Yes Man, The Dark Knight, and Sex and the City. It's just steps from your dorm, and with these prices, you can afford to be a movie buff (popcorn optional). The campus also hosts the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival and the Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series, as well as numerous other screenings held by student clubs and organizations.
For your listening pleasure, the School of Music presents over 300 concerts each year. Come and hear classmates, professors, and visiting artists perform individually or in ensembles. For popular music, check out the acts sponsored by the Bureau of Concerts: great artists like Keller Williams, Stars, Say Anything, Yung Joc, Less Than Jake, and O.A.R have played on or near campus recently.
The Handwerker Gallery showcases student and faculty art as well as works by notable contemporary artists. Recent exhibitions have ranged from Soviet propaganda of the Cold War to a collection of Inuit sculpture, a display that was curated by IC museology students.
The play's the thing at Ithaca: whether you're backstage, center stage, or in the audience, you'll find a show to suit your tastes and talents. Theater arts majors act in, light, manage, promote, and design Ithaca College Theatre productions. Not a major, but just can't resist the smell of the greasepaint? The student-run Triple Threat Theatre will give you a chance at virtually any role.
Throughout the year the Offices of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs, New Student Programs, and Academic Enrichment Services organize important events that bring the Ithaca community together. Think about attending the annual Professionals Symposium or one of our guest lectures, events that help Ithacans broaden their perspectives. If you're interested in cultural diversity, clubs such as the African-Latino Society, the Asian Culture Club, and the International Club will welcome you.
