The art history department is pleased to announce the appointment of a new director for the Handwerker Gallery.

Cheryl Kramer took her graduate training in the history of art and museum studies at Rutgers University and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Her research specialties include the art of the Russian avant-garde and the development of commercial galleries in pre-revolutionary Russia, especially under the patronage of women. Her work as a teacher and curator has focused on fostering an ever more integral role for museums and galleries in education across the disciplines. She comes to us by way of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
