The Three Brothers, an extraordinary exhibit of paintings, mixed media, and photos, opens Thursday, February 26, in the Handwerker Gallery, Gannett Center, with an opening reception from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The exhibit features the works of Oren Lyons (Onondaga), Tracy Thomas (Mohawk), and Rick Hill (Tuscarora). The exhibit is inspired by the culture heroes and art traditions of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy.

Featured is the graphic art and oils of Lyons, including his famous Great Tree of Peace, which has appeared in several books, the mushroom art of Thomas, and the portraits and steelworker (skywalker) photos of Hill. There will also be two talks connected with the exhibit by Lyons and Thomas on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the Klingenstein Lounge titled, "The Three Brothers: Friends in Life and Art," and by Hill on Monday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Handwerker Gallery titled, "Turtles, Trees, and Other Symbols of Hope: The History of Haudenosaunee Art."
