Ithaca College is pleased to announce the signing of a software license agreement with SunGard SCT for its Banner student information system (SIS) software applications.
SunGard SCT is one of the premier suppliers of enterprise resource program solutions for higher education today. Among its more than 850 clients are Brown, Bucknell, Dartmouth, Lafayette, Lehigh, Notre Dame, Spelman, Wake Forest, William and Mary, and Villanova.
The software components of the agreement include admission, student financials and billing, financial aid, student and course records, registration and degree audit, the integrative Luminis portal and Luminis Data Integration for eLearning, and SCT Workflow and Operational Data Store. Scheduled to begin in early August, the project will take several semesters to complete.
SunGard SCT Banner was selected in a competitive bid process that involved proposals and campus presentations by four major vendors this past spring. The process also involved review of several service-specific vendor proposals for admissions client relationship management, housing and residential life management, and judicial affairs. At this time, however, no decision has been made with regard to these additional service providers.
Ithaca College is now in the process of contracting for consulting services to provide expertise in project management and implementation. Once we have selected these partners, we will need to fully articulate our current business practices and compare them to the basic functionality of the Banner software. That assessment will reveal the major hurdles we may face during the SIS implementation.
The SIS executive and steering committees would like to thank all of the more than 150 faculty, staff and students who participated in the selection process. Implementation of a new SIS is critical to Ithaca's ability to continue to serve our current students and recruit outstanding new classes.
