Mead Loop Reelected to Board of SPJ

Mead Loop, associate professor of journalism, was re-elected to the board of directors of the Society of Professional Journalists, the nation's largest journalism organization.

As national campus adviser, he advises campus chapters nationwide on organization and programming, and promotes First Amendment concerns on campuses.

Loop also was reappointed to the board of directors of the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation, which funds the philanthropic needs of the Society of Professional Journalists. The foundation receives, invests and administers gifts, and has an endowment of $11 million. Loop's responsibility as cochair of the grants committee is to recommend what SDX will fund for journalism education and professional development. SDX funds more than $300,000 annually in projects.

Loop also serves as the adviser to the Ithaca College chapter of SPJ.
