A new book by Asma Barlas, Islam, Muslims, and the U.S.: Essays in Religion and Politics was published last month in India.
In addition, a book for which she wrote a chapter on Qur'anic hermeneutics was released earlier in the year by Oxford University Press.
In recent months, Barlas also has given invited papers at Yeshiva University, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Library of Congress, University of Toronto, Swarthmore College, and Auburn University. In December, she will be giving a plenary address at the annual session of the Muslim Public Affairs Council as well as a talk at Stanford University.
