On Thursday, November 2 at 7:00p.m. in the Park Auditorium, IC will present a public screening of "An Inconvenient Truth", the acclaimed documentary about global warming. This film screening will be followed by a faculty-led discussion forum about climate change, global warming, sustainability, and personal action.

"Humanity is sitting on a ticking time bomb. If the vast majority of the world's scientists are right, we have just ten years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather, floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we have ever experienced.

"If that sounds like a recipe for serious gloom and doom -- think again. From director Davis Guggenheim comes the Sundance Film Festival hit, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, which offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change." (from www.climatecrisis.net)

The interdisciplinary team of faculty hosting the discussion forum after the film includes Jason Hamilton (biology), David Saiia (business), and Tom Shevory (politics).

This film screening is made possible through a collaboration between Student Activities Board, the offices of the President and Provost, the schools of Business, Communications, and Humanities and Sciences, and others.

If you have not yet seen this important film, please make plans to attend this special event, which is free and open to the general public. Or catch the film as it continues its run on campus throughout the weekend of November 2-4 following SAB's normal film programming schedule - note that regular SAB ticket prices apply to subsequent showings.
