Google Earth Contest: Help Put IC on the Map

Contributed by John H. White

Ever use Google Earth? You can fly all around the globe and view different landmarks. You can see local interests and get directions. You can get local search results on a 3D map. Now Google has started a contest for college students to submit a 3D model of their campus.

Using Google's free 3D modeling software, Sketchup, you can re-create all of the landmarks of the IC campus. And the winning team gets a trip to Google's headquarters in Mountain View, CA, for workshops on 3D modeling with Google experts and a tour of their campus.

The contest is open to college students only. If you're interested in being on a team, add a comment to this story. For more information on the contest, read about it on Google’s Blog or visit
