Recreation and Leisure Studies faculty member Chris Pelchat has been selected for two national positions within the leadership ranks of the outdoor industry.
The membership of the Wilderness Education Association (WEA) selected Pelchat to serve as president of the organization's association. The mission of the WEA is to promote the professionalism of outdoor leadership through establishment of national standards, curriculum design, implementation, advocacy, and research-driven initiatives. The WEA serves as the international certifying body for outdoor leadership. (www.weainfo.org)
Pelchat was also selected to serve on the Education Review committee for the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to the responsible enjoyment and active stewardship of the outdoors by all people worldwide. (www.lnt.org)
