Starting Monday -- Trayless Dining at Towers

Due to an overwhelming response, dining services is taking "trayless dining" to a new level -- no more trays at all!

Trayless dining conserves energy by reducing the hot water consumption to wash trays and electricity to run washers. It also reduces food waste and promotes healthy or smaller portioned eating.

Come dine in Towers and make a difference by going trayless! Remember, you can set a good example at any dining facility by not taking a tray.

Please don't remove trays from the Towers dining hall. There are other ways of saving money and energy, and it creates a nuisance. If individuals want to take it upon themselves to cut corners, then that is their right. But it's a little rude to force students to go without trays.

It is the small things that we do that help our campus be sustainable. It doesn't take a huge effort to get back in line if you want more food. Most students (in my experience) don't usually need the trays they are using because all they have is a plate and a cup. So by "forcing" all the students to not have the option of a tray, they are shown that it really isn't that big a deal to not have them at all.

Instead of complaining, feel good that our college is trying to make sustainability a priority.
