In the next Physics Seminar, astrophysicist Eric Klumpe from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) will describe his experience creating a naked-eye observatory on the MTSU campus. Klumpe's lecture will take place 12:10-1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, in room 208 of the Center for Natural Sciences.

His award-winning "Uranidrome" (from the Greek urani for "sky" and dromos, a "large specially prepared place") is a beautiful 90-foot-wide structure that looks like a modern Stonehenge.

Half park, half scientific instrument, the Uranidrome allows observers to chart the heavens with remarkable accuracy. The result: a spectacular space that doubles as a cool teaching tool.
