The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies has been re-accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (COAPRT), during the National Parks and Recreation Association annual conference recently held in Atlanta, Georgia.
The department was selected as one of six pilot programs to participate in a new accreditation process that focuses on student learning outcomes assessment. The new standards and process will be required of all programs seeking accreditation or re-accreditation beginning in 2013.
The council commended the department for its 30-year commitment to quality through accreditation. The council also commended Ithaca College for supporting the department through exceptional services of the Ithaca College Library, as well as our three-year technology renewal program for equipment.
