The Roy H. Park School of Communications will offer a mini-course titled "Media for Social Responsibility" that runs March 29 through Saturday, March 31. The course is open to all majors at Ithaca College, and focuses on how media handles coverage of climate change and natural disasters and the responsibilities of media professionals.

This course is 12.5 hours of immersive learning, emphasizing how content can communicate social responsibility and effect global transformation.

The keynote address will be presented by Sam Champion from Good Morning America/ABC News on Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites. Following his talk, students will be introduced to a challenge where they work as part of a team to solve a mock crisis. On Friday from 3-6 p.m., case studies on climate change and natural disaster media coverage will be presented by alumni and industry professionals.

With these resources, you will collaborate on Saturday as if you were an employee in a consulting business that is advising a local media corporation to meet the challenge. Students from Ithaca College, Cornell and several international universities will develop strategies for responsible media coverage.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Mara Alper at malper@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1280. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
