Assistant Professor Joshua Bonnetta has been awarded the Deluxe Cinematic Vision Award for 'excellence and innovation in the visual realisation of work by a Canadian film or video artist' for his new video installation work on Guglielmo Marconi's transatlantic wireless transmission: 'Strange Lines and Distances'. The work was part of the 25th Images Festival in Toronto, Canada. Established in 1987, the Images Festival is the largest festival in North America for experimental and independent moving image culture, showcasing the innovative edge of international contemporary media art both on and off the screen.

Bonnetta is also part of an upcoming curated exhibition on sound art, 'Sans Song', in Vancouver, Canada, at Western Front Gallery. His sculptural sound installation 'Evensong', based on recordings made through the architecture of St. Paul's Cathedral, will open on April 27 and run through June 1.

In addition to these recent gallery based exhibitions, his film American Colour screened as part of the 25th edition of the European Media Arts Festival on April 20 in Osnabruk, Germany. An American Colour DVD/LP/MONOGRAPH has been released by the Milan, Italy based electroacoustic label Senufo Editions in a limited artist edition of 300. The published work exists as a DVD of American Colour with Bonnetta's accompanying soundtrack pressed to vinyl LP. The release is also accompanied by a monograph on American Colour by programmer and curator Irene Bindi. The work is available in the U.S. through www.experimedia.net

Bonnetta teaches in the Department of Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts.
