TONIGHT -- Wednesday, May 2nd -- the On the Verge play reading series will present a staged reading of Tom Stoppard's play, ARCADIA, with a cast of students and faculty members, at 6 p.m. in the Handwerker GallerContributed by Claire Gleitman on 04/29/2012
The cast includes faculty members from both English and Theater (Elizabeth Bleicher, Chris Holmes, Kathleen Mulligan, Kevin Murphy, Michael Twomey); a local professional actor who is also an IC alumnus (Jesse Bush); and current students from both the English and Theater departments. The reading was directed by Claire Gleitman, Professor of English. It will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2nd, at the Handwerker Gallery. On the Verge was begun in the mid-1990s by Jack Hrkach (Department of Theater) and Claire Gleitman (Department of English) to serve as an aid to discussion in dramatic literature classes, to improve the skills of student actors, and to provide an opportunity for collaborative work by faculty and students. All Handwerker Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.; Thursday, 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; and weekends, noon to 5.00 p.m.. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays unless otherwise specified for an event but can accommodate group or class visits by appointment.
