For the second year in a row, the Ithaca College Collegiate Chapter of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) has invited a respected pedagogue and performer to visit our campus and interact with our organization. On November 8 and 9, 2012, pianist Alan Huckleberry of the University of Iowa will join us to present a masterclass and lecture.
Dr. Huckleberry will work with two solo pianists and one chamber group in his masterclass and will discuss his current research in the use of new technology in music education in his presentation "The 21st Century Music Lesson — Using Technology in a Pedagogically Responsible Manner." Dr. Huckleberry’s visit will be a special opportunity for IC MTNA members and other Ithaca College students to meet a national figure in piano pedagogy and see him at work firsthand.
During his stay in Ithaca, Dr. Huckleberry will also perform a collaborative recital with saxophonist Kenneth Tse. Tse is a guest of the Ithaca College Saxophone Society. All Ithaca College students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the community, are encouraged to attend all of these events (listed below).
