CANCELLED FOR TONIGHT - Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra performs "Rhapsody in Blue" in the School of Music's Ford Hall

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Ford Hall at Ithaca College's Whalen Center for Music.
Presented in partnership with Ithaca College, RPO will be kicking off its multi-season with an Underground Railroad artistic theme. The concert begins with a watershed African American work, Still's "Symphony No. 1 Afro-American Symphony," premiered by the RPO in 1931. The premiere of a new work by Eastman School of Music Dean Douglas Lowry, "The Freedom Zephyris," will follow.
Ward Stare--resident conductor of the St.Louis Symphony--will guest conduct these first two works, then leading the RPO in Hindemith's "Mathis der Maler and Gershwin's headlining classic, featuring Terrence Wilson on piano and Paul Burgett as narrator.
Tickets ($25 for adults / $10 for students) are required and can be purchased here, though Rush Ticketing is available for IC students, as described below:

Five minutes before the concert, ushers will seat students in available seats throughout the house. Seats will be available at a first come, first served basis, but every effort will be made to seat as many students as possible. In the occasion that a ticket holder arrives, the student sitting in the ticket holder’s assigned seat should find the nearest usher in order to be reseated.
