Dr. Deckman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, authors the lead article in the Summer 2013 issue of the Harvard Educational Review. "Leaving the Space Better Than You Found it Through Song: Music, Diversity, and Mission in One Black Organization" explores the Kuumba singers of Harvard College and documents the story of Sheldon K. X. Reid, director of the Kuumba Singers, and how he has experienced his work as program director of the longstanding multicultural organization. She was invited to blog about the context for this research in Voices in Education.
