Submitted on behalf of Nancy Pringle, Vice President for Human and Legal Resources.
Last summer, I was pleased to welcome the Office of Human Resources to the newly created Division of Human and Legal Resources. Since then, staff members in human resources, risk management, and equal opportunity compliance have worked to identify new opportunities for collaboration with the goal of improving the coordination and delivery of a range of services to the campus community. I am happy to announce that we have already discovered some ways that we can leverage the strengths of individual units to better support faculty, staff members and students. As a result, there has been some restructuring within the division that has led to some changes in responsibilities. First, the Office of Employee Relations in Human Resources has been renamed the Office of Employee Relations & Equity Compliance and will now be responsible for addressing complaints of discrimination and harassment in accordance with the Ithaca College Discrimination Complaint Resolution Guidelines. To speak with someone regarding filing a complaint of unlawful discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation, please contact Vicki Estabrook, Director of Employee Relations & Equity Compliance. Second, the Office of Employee and Organizational Development will now oversee all of the College’s employment training programs. The office will be expanding into online training, offering programs to meet institutional requirements established by federal, state, and local rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. This will include administering educational programs on topics including workplace harassment and discrimination, safety, conflict of interest, HIPPA, and FERPA. The incorporation of these and other educational initiatives into the work that Human Resources already does helps to ensure that Ithaca College will meet its legal obligations while becoming an even safer, more hospitable place to work and learn.
