Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I’m pleased to announce the new website for the Office of Civic Engagement (OCE): http://www.ithaca.edu/civic-engagement/.

The OCE was established this past spring and is one of the initiatives of the college’s IC20/20 strategic plan. The OCE is the primary clearinghouse for all community based activities and opportunities. The office and staff are here to provide support or assistance to all IC community members interested in civic engagement. We’d love to hear from students, faculty and staff engaged in community service projects or community-based experiential learning assignments.

In addition, the OCE would like to hear from all faculty who conduct service-learning courses or would be interested in developing a service-learning course. Please feel free to contact the office or any of the faculty members of the Service Learning Design and Implementation Group listed on our website.

If you collaborate with or are aware of any community partners who would like to promote a service opportunity or develop long-term partnerships please have them contact the OCE.

Looking for ways to get involved? All staff, faculty and students are invited to visit our website for updated volunteering opportunities!

Any inquiries or questions can be directed to Cheryl Gunther by calling 274–3686 or email oce@ithaca.edu.

Have a great semester!
