IC Diversity Objectives for 2013-2014 Comment from ktibbet1 on 10/04/2013
First, thank you. I truly appreciate the value Ithaca College administrators place on diversity and inclusion.

My suggestion is that instead of targeting ALANA (because there are hard, well-established metrics for those demographics) extend your interest in development to all that fit within the definition of diversity as it is defined in IC's diversity statement.

Race is a stereotypical component of diversity (meaning diversity is more that just race) and the less focus we as an institution place on it, the less obsessed we will all be with it. I say challenge yourselves to develop initiatives and metrics that align more closely with your diversity statement rather than what you know you can accurately measure.
