Flu Season is at Its Peak!

While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses can be detected year-round, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. The exact timing and duration of flu seasons can vary, but influenza activity often begins to increase in October. Most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, although activity can last as late as May.

The College’s applicant tracking system, PeopleAdmin, will be used to house and maintain job descriptions for staff positions effective February 28, 2017.  Change requests to job descriptions for existing positions as well as requests for new position descriptions will be managed through this system.

As mentioned in previous meetings and events, the Office of Human Resources is excited to announce we have partnered with Sibson Consulting to conduct an extensive review of the current compensation program for staff and administration. The objectives of this major initiative are to revise our compensation philosophy, redesign our current job structure, complete an assessment of the competitiveness of current salaries and benefits, and to develop and implement a new salary structure.

Early last week, a temporary court injunction was issued that makes it uncertain how the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) overtime pay exemptions apply to employees who would be impacted by the new rules that were to go into effect on December 1, 2016.  Although the injunction removes the immediate mandate for December 1, 2016, the College will move forward with our implementation plan.
