Why have some countries closed adoption? Why do some people give their adopted children back?

This Thursday we're going to have a Current Events meeting in Williams 218 at 6 p.m.We'll be talking about what's going on domestically and internationally in terms of adoption, and why countries like Russia are deciding to close their doors. We'll also ask questions about why adoptive parents sometimes give their children back.

 There are still spots on all three break trips to Lexington KY, Beaufort SC, and Tucker GA! These are awesome and fun opportunities that you should take advantage of.  

Here's everything you'll need to know before signing up.

Price:  $210 for every trip. This includes all transportation, housing, and food for the entire week. The one exception is that you will be responsible for paying for food on travel days. Checks can be made out to Ithaca College.    Locations:  Beaufort, SC, Lexington, KY, and Tucker, GA   Dates:  January 11-18th (Some trips will be leaving Saturday, and others will be leaving Sunday. If your trip is leaving Saturday, you'll need to be in Ithaca on Friday the 10th)

 As you all are excited for our upcoming break we are excited for this weeks meeting which will include a guest lecture by Dr. Phuong Nguyen! Dr. Nguyen is currently teaching two courses this semester,The "Introduction to Asian-American Studies"   along with "Race and Love in Asian-America". As the coordinator of the newly developedAsian-American Studies minor Dr. Nguyen's long background in ethnic studies has given him a foundation for discussing issues of race and identity. During this meeting he will talk about his personal experiences with such topics as he tries to raise questions and bring light to ideas we never fully talk about as well as answer the question of "Why I Became Asian-American.."


It will be a great dialogue and we hope all of you can attend and bring your friends for this great opportunity!   Meet us in Williams 313 this Thursday at 7pm as we get to not only get to know Dr. Nguyen better but share our stories as well

Come to the next general body meeting for IC International Club on Monday, November 18, at 7pm in Friends 309.

We will play the Penny Game to understand the distribution of wealth and power, and examine how socio-economic factors affect people's opportunities to succeed. This will be a fun activity that will also open up a discussion about global wealth disparity and social justice.
