Kathy is the founder of the catskill animal sanctuary and is going to talk about her work and experience at the sanctuary! We would love to have as many people as we can there to support our club and listen to what Kathy has to say!

Tuesday, April 1st, 7pm in Textor 101.

“Lumumba” is the true story of Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of Congo. The film is centered around the months before, during, and after the Republic of the Congo achieved independence from Belgium in June 1960.

 

“Lumumba” has been called both “Brilliant” and “Breathtaking” by critics and we hope that you join us tonight to share this remarkable experience.

TONIGHT at 7PM: The Kick-off event for this year’s Africa Week!

Our first event of the week will be an inaugural speech by guest speaker Mukoma Wa-Ngugi, in Clark Lounge. Dr. Mukoma Wa Ngugi is a novelist, poet, and literary scholar from Kenya, and currently a professor at Cornell University. Join IC African Students Association as we introduce our theme: “Celebrating our Ancestors” and kick-off an amazing week of fun events all centered around this theme.

International Club of Ithaca College and Feminists United are collaborating to bring IC an enriching opportunity to discuss global commodity chains and social justice. Guest speaker Dr. Bhavani Arabandi, assistant professor from the department of sociology, will give a talk on gender roles and globalization.

Come join us for the stories behind the products that are designed, manufactured, and marketed around the world through global commodity chains. There will be refreshments and comfortable seating.

Calling all volunteers for this year’s IC Kicks Back! We need a grand total of 30 volunteers to help with various jobs throughout the afternoon. Some jobs include:

-Maintaining lines for the inflatables and photo booths

-Checking IDs

-Taking photos of the event

A FREE IC Kicks Back T-shirt will be included!

The African Students Association invites you to join us at the opening event of Africa Week. Our inaugural speaker, Dr. Mukoma Wa Ngugi, a novelist, poet, and literary scholar from Kenya, and currently a professor at Cornell University, will discuss topics surrounding our theme: "celebrating our ancestors." The event will take place in Clark Lounge at 7pm. SLI credit is available!

Africa Week will take place between March 31st and April 5th, this upcoming week! This year our theme is: "Celebrating Our Ancestors" in honor of our predecessors who have helped shape Africa into the beautiful and rich continent that it is today.
