DIIS posted the below Intercom article on Friday, 8/19. We have decided to postpone the removal of QuickTime from Windows computers for a few weeks. If you have any concerns about how the removal of this software might impact your work or teaching, please contact the Service Desk as soon as possible.

The revised date to start the removal process is Wednesday, September 7th at 9:00 a.m.

Sakai will be unavailable for a 5 minute period Friday, August 19 at 5:00 AM for a routine software update. DIIS will integrate Kaltura, IC's new media repository system, with Sakai at that time.

DIIS would like to remind everyone to unplug computers, printers, and other electrical devices prior to the start of the campus power outage this weekend. 

While DIIS expects that all computing systems and services will remain online and accessible from off campus during the power outage, there is the possibility of extended system downtime for any system or service due to unanticipated problems.

The Technology Learning Center (TLC) will be open from 9am – 12pm, Monday – Friday throughout the summer, beginning Monday, May 16th. Stop by Friends Hall 101 between 9am - 12pm for drop-in consulting and one-to-one training on software programs.

Turning Technologies has been the centrally supported student response system (a.k.a clickers) for more than 4 years and is used to engage students during class, assess their learning, and for peer instruction.

The vendor will have a representative on campus on Wednesday, May 11th to help current users transition to their newest product, Turning Point Cloud.  In addition there will be an overview session for those interested in both polling with clickers and with the companion mobile app, Responseware™.

Digital Instruction and Information Services (DIIS) is offering an opportunity for members of the IC community to learn more about and interact with the Beam Pro telepresence robot by Suitable Technologies.  In addition to presenting at Ed Tech Day on March 24th, the company is generously offering additional sessions on Wednesday, March 23 and will allow the device to remain on campus the following week for hands on exploration in selected IC departments or schools.
