As of today, all students, staff, and faculty of Ithaca College have unlimited access to lynda.com, an online video training resource. Through our lyndaCampus agreement, our campus has access to over 4,000 video courses, covering a wide range of topics from Accounting to Web Development. With courses for all skill levels, practice environments, exercise files, and on-the-go learning from your laptop, tablet, and mobile device, lynda provides something for everyone. This is a huge advancement in our ability to provide self-paced, just-in-time learning to our community and to enrich teaching and learning here at Ithaca College.

Spring 2016 Technology Renewal questionnaire notifications have been sent to all guardians and area coordinators, and should be completed by 5pm on Sunday, November 22nd.
To complete a questionnaire, go to the Technology Renewal website, and click on “View Assets / Complete Questionnaire.” You will need to log in with your Netpass username and password.
If an asset is due to be replaced, you will see a red "Questionnaire Due" link that will take you to the on-line questionnaire. More information, including replacement computer configurations, is also available on the website.

Digital Instruction and Information Services (DIIS/formerly ITS) requests your participation in the second annual Higher Education Techqual+ Project for Ithaca College. This online survey is designed to get campus perspectives and expectations on a range IT service outcomes including internet connectivity, online services, and support. This survey will be conducted every year.
A random selection of 25% of faculty, staff and students will be receiving an e-mail from me on Thursday, November 5 with a subject line "Invitation to take 2015 TechQual+ Survey for Ithaca College Students, Faculty, and Staff". The survey will be open through November 20th, 2015.

The Sakai Virtual Conference is on Wednesday, November 4th, 9:00 -5:00 pm. These sessions will be held completely online and will emphasize pedagogy and best practices. Presenters are from institutions that use Sakai such as Oxford University, Rutgers University, Brock University, University of Notre Dame, NYU, Pepperdine and others.
DIIS (formerly ITS) will cover the modest registration costs for faculty interested in participating in all or part of this online conference. Requests for registration are due by Tuesday, November 3 at NOON. Please email Marilyn Dispensa if you are interested in getting a registration key.

Apple has determined that a small percentage of MacBook Pro systems may exhibit distorted video, no video, or unexpected system restarts. Note that this information only applies to personally owned MacBook Prop laptops, as none of the affected models are currently part of the college's technology renewal program.

Apple has informed us that they are discontinuing the ‘private’ iTunes U service that IC has used since 2008 on September 1, 2015. This affects iTunes U in the legacy private iTunes U that you access via http://itunes.ithaca.edu or myHome. This also affects iTunes U access from within Sakai. It does NOT affect content on the “public” itunes U that is part of the iTunes store. ITS attempted to contact most content owners during the past month.

Microsoft has released their latest operating system, Windows 10. For personal computers already running Windows 7 or Windows 8, Windows 10 will be available as a free update for the first year. College issued computers will continue to use Windows 7 while ITS investigates Windows 10’s compatibility with our software and systems.

ITS is upgrading Sakai on August 11, 2015 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (EDT). Sakai wil be unavailable during that time.
The upgraded version of Sakai includes many new features and major improvements to existing functionality. There will be slight changes to Sakai's interface that improve usability and accessibility.

ITS has upgraded the college’s academic SPSS network license to version 23.
You can order your SPSS upgrade by filling out and submitting this form. The subscription charge is $85 for FY 15-16. If you currently have version 22 and don’t request an upgrade, your network license for SPSS will stop working as of October 1st.
Upgrade installs will take place over the summer months; new installs of SPSS can take place at any time throughout the license year.
Microsoft has introduced a new Outlook email feature called Clutter. This feature is designed to automatically move low priority messages out of your Inbox and into their own folder, saving you time when you scan for important messages.
