Junior class again leads volleyball team to success
Another weekend, another solid showing for the volleyball team, as the Bombers finished 3–1 at the Rochester Institute of Technology Invitational this weekend. Last weekend, the team went 3–1 at the Bomber Invitational.
On Friday, the Blue and Gold defeated SUNY-Geneseo 3–0 and Clarkson College 3–1. On Saturday, the Bombers lost to New York University 3–0, but punctuated the invitational with a solid 3–2 victory over SUNY-Cortland. Following the weekend, the Bombers record stands at 7–5 overall, 1–0 in the Empire 8.
The Blue and Gold’s strong junior class again powered the offensive attack. Juniors Amanda Hubbard, Jenna Yehl and Katie Hause, along with freshman Corrina Doctor, led the Bombers in digs, kills and assists each match.
Doctor recorded a career-high 54 assists against Cortland on Saturday, while Yehl had a career-best 30 digs against Clarkson. Hause also had a career-high against Cortland, recording 27 digs in the Bombers’ win.
The next match for the volleyball team will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at SUNY-Geneseo.
