Men's tennis team struggles in tournament
The men’s tennis team finished fourth overall this weekend at the Flower City Tournament in Rochester, N.Y.
The Bombers defeated Hobart College 8–1 in the opening round Saturday, but lost to University of Rochester 7–2 in the second round later that day. On Sunday, the Blue and Gold lost to St. Lawrence University by a score of 5–4, dropping the Bombers’ record to 1–3 on the season.
Freshman Jake Bear went unbeaten in singles play, and improved his overall season record to 6–2. Fellow freshman Liam Berkowitz notched wins in both singles and doubles competition against St. Lawrence.
Freshmen Taylor Borda and Danny Wolk recorded their first career victories against Hobart. Seniors Colin Flynn and Joe Young posted doubles wins over the weekend.
The Bombers have one more tournament in their fall season. The spring season begins in early March.
The next match for the men’s tennis team will take place the weekend of Sept. 29 in the ITA Regional Championships in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
