Volleyball team defeats Elmira 3–0
The volleyball team carried its momentum from an undefeated performance at this weekend’s Oneonta Invitational into its match Tuesday against Elmira College, winning 3–0 (30–17, 30–20, 30–22).
The victory improved the Bombers’ record to 16–9 overall (2–0 in the Empire 8).
Junior Amanda Hubbard recorded a game-high 14 kills and 24 digs to complete her 15th double-double of the season. She also added four service aces.
Junior Katie Hause notched 13 kills, 20 digs and three blocks, while junior Andria Mynders added 11 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Corinna Doctor continued her recent dominant play, registering 36 assists with 11 digs.
The Bombers’ win comes on the same day that Hubbard and Doctor were named the Empire 8 Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Their teammate, junior Mary Schaefer, was named the NYSWCAA Defensive Player of the Week.
The next match for the volleyball team will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cortland Invitational against Western Connecticut State University.
