Ithaca Seminars

Ithaca Seminars are interdisciplinary liberal arts courses for first year students. All Ithaca Seminars participate in the Ithaca Seminar Program which provides students with common experiences that connect classroom and academic learning with other aspects of college life.

Why should you enroll in one of these seminars?

  • The seminars explore interesting topics.
  • The seminars are intended to stress active learning, with an emphasis on student engagement and reflection.
  • The seminars, by virtue of their size and objectives, enhance critical thinking, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • The seminars are taught by experienced and enthusiastic faculty members who volunteered to participate in this program.
  • The Seminar Program provides students with an opportunity to share in a set of common experiences with students from different schools and different majors at Ithaca College.
  • The Seminar Program incorporates a “common hour” that focuses on topics that will help first-year students make a successful transition to Ithaca College.
