Administrative Depts.
Most administrative departments create and publish web pages by using Web Profile Manager (WPM). Accounts for WPM are created by ITS in conjunction with Marketing Communications.
A few sites are still maintained using traditional html code that is uploaded to the WWW server via an SFTP program. To create static web pages, users must also know html code or have access to a web page authoring tool like Adobe's Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is the recommended software to create and publish web pages using traditional html. Dreamweaver includes an SFTP option for securely uploading files to WWW. For Web pages that are created outside of an SFTP-capable program, a separate application that supports SFTP will be needed to upload files to the server.
- WinSCP is the recommended SFTP program for Windows
- Fetch is the recommend SFTP program for Macs
Note that some web protocols are not available for use on the WWW server. These protocols include PHP, CGI, Perl, MySQL.
