Staff
Staff members may be responsible for maintaining departmental websites using two methods.
- Web Profile Manager (WPM)
- A WWW account for uploading traditional html pages to the WWW server (this option is becoming obsolete)
To create traditional web pages, users must also know html code or have access to a web page authoring tool like Adobe's Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is the recommended software to create and publish web pages using traditional html. Dreamweaver includes an SFTP option for securely uploading files to WWW. For Web pages that are created outside of an SFTP-capable program, a separate application that supports SFTP will be needed to upload files to the server.
- WinSCP is the recommended SFTP program for Windows
- Fetch is the recommend SFTP program for Macs
Some web protocols are not available for use on the WWW server. These protocols include PHP, CGI, Perl, MySQL.
