French Grammar Manual
by Jane Kaplan
Jane Kaplan, a Professor of French in the Department
of Modern Languages & Literature, has published
18th century French literature and is presently finishing
the translation of a book written 200 years ago. Three
years ago, Jane had an idea to publish an online French
grammar manual entirely in HTML. This idea led her to
ITS's Technology and Learning Center (TLC) to learn
how to write HTML code. Over the years, Jane had amassed
a volume of HTML pages allowing her students to access
grammatical explanations and exercises over the Internet.
Our solution was to build a user-friendly interface,
or "wrapper," around her existing HTML coding.
We helped Jane reorganize her website and incorporated
a color-coded tab metaphor for each section. With a
fresh new look, Jane's "French Grammar Manual"
is getting the hits it deserves.
